"We Care" Package Campaign - Texas Style
November 5-12, 2007
We will be in Houston, Texas and surrounding areas promoting Project: Keep the Light On and drumming up support for our troops. You can find us at the following events:
CenterPoint, 1920 Hollister, Houston, Texas
November 8, 2007 - 7pm-9pm
Keeping the Light On: An Evening of Prayer & Letter Writing - Join us in a prayer circle for the Fallen Texans, as we say their names one more time and thank them for their sacrifices. Following this, all attendees will be given the opportunity to write a letter of support addressed to “America’s Finest” while Dian Peters intuitively answers randomly picked personal questions submitted by the audience beforehand. Dian is here on a mission to remind everyone to “keep the light on” for America’s Heroes by supporting them with letters, cards, care packages and prayers. Come out and help her complete that mission!
Cost: $10 tax deductible donation payable to Keepers of the Light/Project: Keep the Light On AND a letter or card addressed to: America’s Finest. Attendees are also encouraged to bring items to be included in a care package for a Texas unit stationed in Iraq.
Donations received will be used to further the efforts of Project: Keep the Light On.
Ongoing Events
Project: Keep the Light On
Officially kicked off on May 1st.
This is a community troop-support initiative comprised of various efforts and activities to keep our Troops in the public eye and memory. Some planned activities which have been held or will be held are:
Recruiter Appreciation Week - (Official Day: May 19th) - Appreciation gift baskets for 40+ recruiters were delivered to eight randomly-chosen military recruiting stations (2 stations each: Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force) during the week of May 14th. Keepers was joined in this effort by Skin and Body Harmony Wellness Center. Gift baskets included baked goods, popcorn packs, candy and gift certificates for Spa services.
"We Care" Package Drives - Ongoing efforts are being made to collect items for care packages to be sent to randomly-chosen deployed troops. Donated items should be travel-size and non-perishable. Please contact us for dates and locations.
Wellness Day Programs - Open Houses will be scheduled for families of deployed military members to provide them with information on alternative methods for dealing with stress and tension in their lives, such as Reiki and Meditation. If you or someone you know could benefit from attending one of these Open Houses, please contact us for dates and locations.
