Keepers of the Light, Inc. ("Keepers"), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit healing ministry, is undertaking a community troop-support initiative called “Project: Keep the Light On.” It is planning events and activities to make the community aware of the need to continue their support of our Troops. Please contact us for further information on dates and locations of events.
Ways You Can Support Our
Troops:
1. Letters, letters, letters – write as many as you can! This is the most requested item by the Troops. Many members do not receive any letters from home or family because they simply do not have a home or family to begin with (one of the many reasons for enlisting) and any kind of appreciation or encouragement is welcomed. Letters to be forwarded to our Troops should be addressed as “Dear Soldier,” “Dear Marine,” “Dear Sailor,” “Dear Airman,” “Dear Coast Guard,” etc. You can contact us for ideas of what to include in your letter. Keepers will gladly collect letters and ship them to authorized contacts to be distributed to our military members who are receiving no mail from home.

2. Quilts, Cast Socks, Afghans, and Medicine Bags for the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center – Sewers, Knitters & Crocheters here is your chance to do what you love doing and provide comfort and hope for someone else at the same time. Landstuhl Hospital Care Project is a troop-supporting non-profit organization which works closely with LRMC in providing these needed items and other supplies for the military members who are hospitalized. You can go directly to LHCP's website and sign up to be a volunteer and obtain the instructions and guidelines for the needed hand-made items. (A label with your name on it will be attached to the item you donate. You may not get a personal thank-you from the recipients, but it lets them know who cares about them.)

3. Donations – Money or Supplies (when needed). Keepers will periodically initiate a "We Care" Package Drive whenever a need is made known to us. Money is not only needed to purchase items for the care packages, but also for shipping and handling. Sometimes the shipping is more than the total cost of the items being shipped!!! At this time, Keepers is looking for sponsors for "We Care" packages & postage to ship them. Sponsors may donate items and/or money to cover the cost of the items enclosed in the care packages (averages $9-10 per person, depending on requested items), as well as postage for the Flat (but expensive) Rate shipping boxes (approximately $9+ per box). For those interested, a breakdown of the cost of items will be made available upon request. Tax Deductible Donations can be in the form of cash, check or credit card.* Those wanting to contribute in-kind donations can be added to an email “alert” list and notified on an “as-needed” basis.

4. Hold a fundraiser or put Keepers in touch with organizations willing to hold fundraisers for Project: Keep the Light On.
5. Hold "Letters From Home" parties and have each attendant write a letter of support ... this is also a great opportunity to collect items to be sent to the troops!
6. Start a Prayer Circle or Vision Team to speed up the end of this war! Remember, the Troops did not choose this war...
In addition to that good feeling you’ll get from having performed a random act of kindness, Keepers will list your name (with your permission, of course) as a “Lightkeeper” on our website’s Gratitude Page.

At this time, Keepers is waiting for permission from Paypal to use a "Donate" button instead of the "Buy Now" button.
